ESG make an amazing sound. That infectious funk and post punk sound of late 70s/early 80s New York. What a groove. They have their own sound. I can’t stay still when I listen to them. They make you move. Their influence is massive and they have been sampled so many times. UFO is one of the most sampled tracks ever. I also love the fact they were the Scroggins sisters. What a name. With that surname, if you didn’t know you might assume they were from Manchester.  They sound like characters from Coronation Street. ESG have quite an association with Manchester. Tony Wilson brought them over to record with Martin Hannett to record after seeing them live in New York and they played the opening night of the Hacienda on 21st May 1982 alongside  Bernard Manning. Interesting. The three disc collection called A South Bronx Story that Soul Jazz released is absolutely fantastic. Emerald, Sapphire and Gold I love you.

Hand screen printed on a preloved vintage grey sweatshirt, with red eco ink.

Measures: 20 pit to pit, 26” shoulder to hem and 31” collar to cuff.
