What an amazing artist Nina Simone is. Writer, composer, singer, pianist, perfectionist and a powerful and influential campaigner for social justice. She was a force of nature who did her own thing and lived her own life. Super confidence in her own abilities as an artist. She has such a distinctive style, nobody sounds like Nina Simone. I’m not sure compromise was in her dictionary. Her live performances are mesmeric. There is a filmed live performance at Montreaux in 1976 and it is astonishing she is quite threatening and intimidating on stage. I love one off’s and artists who do it there way.
