I love bands whose music you have no idea where it comes from. Who they listened to and who their influences are. The Happy Mondays are one of those bands. You can’t say it’s 20% of this and 15% of that like so many new bands. They just don’t sound like anyone I’ve heard before or since really. It’s just a unique sound that crazy fusion of mad rhythms and grooves and the driving bass and then there are the words. It just works not sure how. SWR is such a funny and brilliant lyricist. Bummed is one of my favourite records. An amazing collection of songs. Performance is the stand out for me. Check them on Youtube playing Performance on Tony Wilsons The Other Side of Midnight. It’s utterly amazing and you can't help but dance to it.
